yup absolute bollocks – a human rights event is denied the right to have a march and there is nothing we can do about it. once again, malaysia boleh! nak jalan ramai ramai also cannot. quite funny and a little tragic. but yeah, i’ll still be going to central market. see you there!

The Bar Council has decided to call off its annual Human Rights Day march on Sunday, ostensibly due to pressure from the authorities to obtain a police permit. “We are calling it off, but will proceed with the rest of the festivities (at the Central Market),” council chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan told Malaysiakini when contacted this afternoon.

meldee: aww mienn. thanks for the heads up, sueann. that’s complete bollocks by the way, i’ve heard from so many people who’ve gone that this is in no way a protest march or something. grr.

anyway i will still most probably go for the events on after that, will you be going too?:)

i am a little bit surprised that the bar council is allowing yellow at their march.

and why purple ?

meldee: well, a colour’s just a colour, hey? who knows la, i’m going to korek my activist friends and find out more on what’s the scene.

purple is the colour for the feminist movement here in malaysia globally i think it’s the colour representing homosexuals (though now i think it’s leaning more towards the colours of the rainbow?) and, er, sexual frustration.

LOL, don’t they show birth control related adverts during the interval there? They used to show them here and it was hilarious. They show a guy who’re really worried about having many children and goes to the doctor and the doctor tells him to get his testicles removed and then they show him and his wife all happy and stuff in the end because he got his tubectomy or vasectomy(whichever it is for males) done. I was really laughing my ass off through all this. They should have shown flavored condoms instead, they’re still better off

People are generally selfish. They focus upon their own wants and desires over everyone else’s. Even their family, friends and partner. Even when people seem to be kind to others, they are truly being selfish. On some level, deep down, we are all selfish.

This post rocks! I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks it’s funny what they got away with just because it’s CGI. Look at Roger Ebert’s take on it: http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071114/REVIEWS/71115001. Apparently even Ms Jolie was surprised by it. Imagine this kinda stuff in Toy Story! Btw you must have got your results by now–I’m sure it’s all good. Best of luck in any case!
